Uttarakhand schools are going to have a monthly “bag-free” day.
To lighten the burden of books on kids, the Uttarakhand government has planned to institute ten “bag-free” days every academic session in all of the state’s schools.
Every upper primary and secondary school, from class 6 to class 12, will celebrate one bag-free day on the final Saturday of the academic year, according to a statement from the school.
It stated that the plan has been presented by the new National Education Policy, 2020.
“The decision has been made for the comprehensive growth of schoolchildren, enabling them to enhance their inherent skills beyond academics,” stated a statement from State Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
Primary schools in Uttarakhand have already implemented the program, which marks some days as “Pratibha Diwas” and lets students engage in any activities they want.
Many parent and teacher groups have praised the state government’s move as a major step in the direction of students’ overall development.
A departmental request to implement bag-free days in all state schools was accepted on Tuesday by the state minister of education. The implementation procedure will start as soon as a government order is issued in this respect, according to authorities.
According to them, the bag-free days would be implemented beginning in April of the next academic year.
