NMC to offer PG medical counseling only online.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently announced the “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023,” which require state or central counseling authority to perform online rounds of counseling for each seat.
“All rounds of counseling for all seats will be held on the online mode by state or central counseling authority,” the official statement issued on December 29, 2023, noted. No medical college or institution is allowed to admit any candidate on its own, the letter made clear.
By adding, “No medical college/institution will admit any candidate,” it further emphasized this point. The regulations delineate the provisions for uniform counseling for admission to post-graduate medical courses throughout all Indian medical establishments.
“Common counseling for admission to post-graduate courses in medicine for all medical institutions in India solely based on the merit list of respective exams shall be conducted, without prejudice to anything stated in the present Regulations or other NMC Regulations,” the statement read.
