NEET UG: The Supreme Court dismisses an appeal against a petition to cancel the exam.

A petition against the DMK’s signature drive in Tamil Nadu to do away with the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges nationwide was turned down by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The petitioner was asking the top court to order the state to forbid this kind of conduct in its institutions.

A bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant and K V Viswanathan noted that competitive exams, which are administered throughout India, must be held.

Justice Kant noted, “Fortunately, we have a very informed generation now that the petitioner told the bench that children are distressed though they have to face the examination eventually.” Our kids have grown up and are aware of everything, therefore they are no longer so naive.
